Central Pavement in the 1970's . A No 'No Entry' sign has replaced the old gas lamp and much of this area stands ready for development. The 'Panda Car' is emerging from Theatre Yard, at the south end of which was the police headquarters.

2 Central Pavement - 2004
Early C19. Painted brick with bracketed eaves cornice. Slate roof hipped at south side. In 2 parts both of 3 storeys. Northern part has 3 windows facing the Market Place and 1 to Central Pavement, unbarred cashes with stuccoed lintels. Modern shop front ground floor. Adjoining to rear an Central Pavement formerly separate house with moulded eaves. 3 windows, the centre blank above ground floor, unbarred sashes with margin lights. Modern shop front ground floor carried across the angle formed between this and No 4.

Lamp Standard Outside Number 2, Central Pavement - 2004
Late C19/early C20. Cast iron. Round fluted plinth with inset medallion. Tall round shaft ends in bulbous foot with foliate moulding. Scrolled swan neck lamp bracket.

Late C18/early C19. Red brick with moulded wooden eaves cornice and slate roof with end chimneys. 3 storeys. 3 windows, those of second floor unbarred sashes, 1st floor modern glazing in former sash spaces, stuccoed lintels. Ground floor has late C19/early C20 shop front retaining cornice and end consoles, modern fascia board and shop windows.
