1935, and Corporation StreetThe month in July 1935, and Corporation Street resounds to the sound of a military band and feet marching in time in the 6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters makes its way to the railway station. Shops along Corporation Street between the wars included Armistead’s bicycle shop where you could have bought a Raleigh cycle for £4-19s-6d cash

At the end of the Second World War a Day of National Prayer was announced and is the reason for the fathering in the Market Place. All services were represented and, with other local organisations, they paraded there from the Town Hall area.
