Soresby Street
Soresby Street in the 1930’s. A school was built here in 1815 to cater for 300 pupils. Managed by the Anglican National Society, it was linked to the Church of St. Mary, later Holy Trinity. In 1903 the attendance was reported as 419 children and, in spite of proposals to rebuild, the school was closed in 1930. The small corner shop was last used by Wheatcroft, General Dealer and Tobacconist.
