Enlisted at Clay Cross in February
1915. His unit fought in the Irish rebillion.
Went to France in 1917. Was wounded, losing a
finger. Initially posted missing on 21 March
1918, later presumed dead. Pre war occupation
was a miner at the Clay Cross Company, Avenue
pit. He was a keen cricketer in the Clay
Cross District. He had 1 brother (Thomas) & 1
sister (Winifred) |
