Harold 'Andy' Smith

 Harold Smith and his brother, David Smith, both from Tupton, originally lived on Springwell Terrace, later, Harold then moved to Wingfield Road and David to Station Road. Harold played for Chesterfield Boys and represented the North in the English Schools Shield, Sheffield United reserves, Swindon Town during the war and Ripley Town with his brother. Harold wasI also have a picture of him with Stanley Matthews at Saltergate.
In the photos is a lad called Sid Carter (Brimington). He later went on to play for, I believe, Wolves, Sheffield Wednesday and finally Mansfield Town. He became the trainer and then the physio. Sadly no longer with us and he was my uncle. Alan Beresford
