We are asuming that the photo is of the whole school, rather than a year group because some look very young and others a little older. This would be born out by the dates below; so would that make the photo date somewhere around 1930-2?
Despite some of the spelling errors of names making life difficult, and the fact that so many families may have come to the area for mining so children not Derbyshire born, Kathryn thinks she has tracked down birth records of some of the pupils’ names.
In particular, as she also recently had a DNA hit with a hitherto unknown 3rd cousin who has an Alan Willows in his tree, she has discovered an Alan Willows born 23 January 1926, in Tupton. She has yet to make contact with her 3rd cousin. Kathryn has common ancestors of Robert Cook and Ruth Slater, although she has yet to discover whether the Harry Slater on the photo is also related.
